The Public Library of Brookline was the April 2012 winner of Sisters in Crime’s “We Love Libraries” lottery. Sisters in Crime is an organization of “3600 members in 48 chapters world-wide, offering networking, advice and support to mystery authors”.
A $1000 check was presented to Reference Librarian Liz Mellett by Brookline author Bruce Macbain at the June 26 meeting of the Library’s mystery book discussion group. Macbain, author of the historical mystery Roman Games (Poisoned Pen Press, 2010) was joined by fellow Sister in Crime member and Agatha Award-winning author Sarah Smith (The Other Side of Dark, Athenaeum, 2010). “I am really looking forward to buying a lot of mystery novels for our readers, who can’t get enough of this very popular genre,” said Mellett, who leads the Mystery Book Discussion Group at Main Library.
