How do I reserve Museum Passes?

1. Patrons requesting passes must
- apply in person at the Information Desk of the Main Library or at one of the branches.
- present their library card.
- live in Brookline or be a Town of Brookline employee.
- be age 12 or older (have an adult or young adult card).
- not have fines exceeding $3.00.
- new addresses must be verified before passes are reserved or picked up.
2. Reservations
- must be made in person at the Information Desk of the Main Library or at one of the branches.
- accepted up to 8 weeks in advance. each Monday at 5 p.m. reservations are extended by one week.
- only 1 pass may be borrowed per family per day.
- only 3 reservations will be taken per day.
- not all holidays are available for reservations.
- passes for the same museum may not be borrowed by the same patron/family on consecutive days.
- reservations will be taken up to 15 minutes prior to closing.
3. Pass pickup
- must be picked up by the patron who made the reservation or by a previously authorized person.
- see attached charts for the time of pick-up.
- on summer weekends and closed weekends, passes must be picked up by 3 p.m. on Friday unless otherwise specified on the reservation card.
- If not picked up by the listed times, the pass will become available to eligible patrons on a first come/first served basis.
4. Laminated pass returns
- must be returned to the Main Library by opening hour (10 a.m.) on the day after they were used (1 p.m. on Sundays)
- must be returned to the Information Desk
- may be left in the Book Depository when the library is closed.
- $10.00 is charged for any late pass after 10 a.m. (1 p.m. on Sundays).
- $25.00 is charged for lost or destroyed passes.
- fines and fees must be paid before other passes are reserved or previously reserved passes are picked up.
- Note that only laminated passes need to be returned; tickets for specific days do not need to be returned.
5. Cancellations
- call (617) 730-2370 so that the passes may be made available to others.
- a reserved date may be rescheduled over the telephone.
The Library reserves the right to deny the use of museum passes to any borrower who repeatedly loses them, returns them late or fails to pick up or cancel them.
