A tender Chinese tale set in the streets of 1930s Sichuan. As a rare master of an ancient art, the skills of the King of Masks are sought out by even the most beloved star of the esteemed Chinese Opera. Desperate for his art to survive, the aging King of Masks finds an apprentice in a destitute child purchased on the black market. When the child reveals an unexpected secret, the King of Masks is torn between filial affection and ancient customs.

Julia Mintzer, mezzo-soprano, and Elizabeth Bonomo, pianist, will perform a recital of songs by Rachmaninoff, Harbison, Poulenc and Weill. Ms. Mintzer is a graduate of The Juilliard School and a member of the Boston University Opera Institute, with whom she will be performing the title role in Thérèse Raquin this February.

Please note: The performance will begin at 2:00 pm and last about an hour.

McKeever who takes up residence in a mansion while the wealthy owners are away on their winter holiday. McKeever turns the place into a haven for fellow vagrants, and winds up welcoming some down-on-their-luck folks who happen to be the home's real owners!
