Senior Cinema celebrates the life of dancer/actress Cyd Charisse with this classic musical comedy also starring Fred Astaire. Fading movie star Tony Hunter (Astaire) is persuaded to join the cast of a new Broadway musical. But on stage Tony faces a prima ballerina (Charisse) with a prima donna’s temper, a hostile choreographer and a pig-headed producer/director. All seems doomed, until Tony decides to take charge!

Rita is a discontented young wife seeking a path to self-discovery. Frank is a disillusioned English professor with a penchant for the bottle. When Rita enrolls in Open University and takes Frank on as her tutor, they both begin to see changes in their lives and in themselves, and a gentle romance emerges between the pair. Julie Walters and Michael Caine both earned Oscar nominations for their roles in this brilliant, bittersweet comedy.
