Robin’s Reads: Snapsnot of the Week (times two!)

As you may have noticed, I missed a week in here, so I’m doing two at once. Crazy, I know.
Favorite books read: The Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale and Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
I love pretty much everything Shannon Hale writes (The Goose Girl, etc., and Princess Academy) and this book was just what I wanted. I love that her heroines feel like someone I might know, and are smart, and get themselves out of trouble instead of waiting for a prince. Eclipse—sigh! I never intended to get so absorbed by Stephenie Meyer’s vampire romances, but they are impossible to resist. Even if I quibble with some points, I love them for their lush romance and great setting. The real question is: are you an Edward fan or a Jacob fan?
Favorite television watched: Still love Heroes, but for new series I’m enjoying Reaper and Blood Ties (for all you vampire romance fans)
Reaper is very Kevin Smith, and therefore very silly, but with heart. That’s why I like it. Blood Ties is a supernatural vampire romance done right—strong, smart, snide heroine plus sexy, snide undead partner plus intriguing cases. It’s amazing that it’s on Lifetime, and it’s good (Lifetime is not a channel that’s known, well, for quality.)
Favorite comic read: Blue Beetle: Road Trip by John Rogers and Keith Giffen
Blue Beetle is about a teen superhero that’s funny, kind, smart, and not quite sure what to make of suddenly being a superhero. And, he’s Latino. Woo!
