Federal Depository Library Program
The Brookline Public Library has participated in the Federal Depository Library Program since 1925. The purpose of this program, which dates from 1813, is to make government information accessible to the public. Today more than 1300 depository libraries serve the needs of the Congressional districts in which they are located.
As a "selective" depository, Brookline chooses materials (from almost 7000 items) with the needs and interests of the people of the 4th Congressional district in mind. We have a wide variety of materials on subjects including education, law, citizenship and health and consumer issues. The collection is available to all free of charge.
We hope to make everyone aware of the variety of information available from the government. Many of your questions on consumer issues, health, Social Security and income tax can be answered from our government collection. Come in and check it out!
