Holiday Hours and Updates
As we near the end of the year, we wanted to share our holiday hours and programming schedule with all of you.
All Public Library of Brookline locations will close early, at 3 PM, on Friday, December 24 and remain closed Saturday, December 25 and Sunday, December 26. All Library locations will also be closed Saturday, January 1 and Sunday, January 2. For complete Library hours, please visit our website.
Our Library programming will also be taking a brief winter vacation. We will not be holding adult programs from Thursday, December 23 through Monday, December 27. And there will be no children's programs from Monday, December 20 through Saturday, January 1. Limited children's programming will resume starting on Monday, January 3 and storytimes will resume the week of Monday, January 10. For a full listing of Library programs, please see our events calendar.
Our schedule may be a bit lighter the next couple weeks, but the Library is still here to offer education, entertainment, and enrichment. Catch up on past programs – from gentle yoga to genealogy to crafting – on our YouTube channel. Or visit the Library to pick up your next book, movie, or show. Not sure what to read or watch next? Our librarians can provide tailored recommendations just for you!

On Display at the Coolidge Corner Library: Welcome Blanket Project
Welcome Blanket is a national craftivist project conceived by Jayna Zweiman, the co-creator of the Pussyhat Project. It reconceptualizes Trump’s 2,000-mile concrete border wall into 2,000 miles of yarn knitted into blankets for new immigrants and refugees to the U.S. Participants knit, crochet, quilt, and sew blankets and write their family’s own immigration stories, with words of welcome in accompanying notes. The blankets (over 6,000 thus far) are displayed in the community and then distributed through 30+ resettlement agencies. Projects from Welcome Blanket will be on display at the Coolidge Corner Library through January.
In 2017, Hadassah Margolis formed Welcome Blanket Brookline, where community members could come together, create, and talk about immigration. The group initially met at the Coolidge Corner Library. Welcome Blanket Brookline now has 200 members and meets monthly, either in person at the Senior Center or on Zoom. For more information or to join, email Hadassah Margolis at media@welcomeblanket.org.
