A Letter from Julie Falsioni

Julie Falsioni photo
Hello and farewell,

I began working at the Brookline Village Library's Circulation Department on June 11, 1973, and retired on June 30, 2022. Highlights of my tenure were: my "Brookline Then and Now Photographic Study" funded by a Massachusetts Cultural Council grant from the Brookline Commission for the Arts in 1992; creating and publishing the library newsletter from 1995-2006; and editing the library's ongoing column in the Brookline TAB from 2003-2020, submitting more than 400 columns.

Not long after I arrived in 1973, I, with other staff, designed a variety of book displays and exhibits for more than 20 years. From the mid-1990s until my retirement, I then coordinated adult exhibits at the Brookline Village Library displayed in the Emery, Lobby, and Foundation Cases, and in Hunneman Hall. My greatest enjoyment though was meeting and serving you, our patrons, for generations at the Circulation Desk. Lifelong connections I'll always cherish. Many thanks to the Library Trustees, the Brookline Library Foundation, the Friends of the Brookline Public Library, the staff, and anyone I may have forgotten. It was my heartfelt pleasure.

-Julie

Tween/Teen Outdoor Scavenger Hunt

TweenTeen Outdoor Scavenger Hunt Handout July 2022

MONDAY, August 9 - SUNDAY, September 15

Calling all tweens and teens: set out for adventure in our Outdoor Scavenger Hunt! This scavenger hunt has three branches to complete, with one branch starting at each Library location. There are three clues inside and outside each Library location. Be prepared to walk a bit from each Library, but not too far!

To start the hunt, ask for a starter map at any Brookline Library location. Once you finish each branch of the scavenger hunt, you should collect a sticker that proves you found the hidden clue to add to your map. Every time you collect one sticker, head back to the nearest Library to collect your prize. When you collect all three stickers, head to the nearest Library to get a special extra prize!

This scavenger hunt is meant for tweens and teens, but if you want to work together as a group or family (with a tween or teen included) to complete the hunt, that’s fine! This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Brookline Public Library.
