One-on-One English Language Tutoring

Apply for the English language tutoring program at the Public Library of Brookline! Our language tutoring program matches adult English learners with volunteer tutors for one-on-one sessions to practice English, learn about the local community, and share cultural knowledge. The learners and tutors meet weekly for one hour for 5 months in person or online. Volunteers are fluent or native language speakers with tutor training, but are not professional teachers.

To participate in the program learners need to live in Brookline or the Greater Boston Area for the duration of the tutoring term, know English at a beginner level or higher, and fill out a waitlist application.

Waitlist applications will open on Wednesday, August 9 at 6 PM on our website.

Movie Matinee Special Screening: The Drive to Sing

Coolidge Corner Library

THURSDAY, August 10 at 1:15 PM

This week’s Movie Matinee is a special screening of The Drive to Sing, a documentary about choirs during the pandemic and the importance of making music together. Through the unique lens of “car choirs,” we feel the passion of singers and directors who HAD to find a way. After the screening, director and producer Bryce and Kathryn Denney will join us for a Q&A.
