UPCOMING EVENTS

Matt Heaton Family Singalong

Matt Heaton Family Singalong

October 19, 2024 11:00 AM @

Join special performer Matt Heaton for an interactive singalong! This program is for families and kids of all ages but may be most appealing to kids ages 0-5. This will be a thirty minute concert. We can’t wait to sing along with you!

About the performer: Matt Heaton believes music for kids can be entertaining for both children AND parents. His songs blend mid century American guitar styles: surf, rockabilly, western swing & soul, delivered with a wry sense of humor and a sincere sense of fun. Children and adults respond to his musicianship and variety. The grown ups in the room particularly appreciate the Muppet-esque touches of humor and observations of kid behavior.  Whether you call it children’s music, family music, kindie or toddlerbilly it’s sure to please listeners of all ages.

Film Screening: Dawnland

Film Screening: Dawnland

November 12, 2024 7:00 PM @

In Celebration of Native American Heritage month, The Coolidge Corner library brings to you a screening of the documentary, Dawnland!

This film was created by the Upstander Project and aired on Independent Lens on PBS in November 2018 and 2021. Since then it has won several awards including a national Emmy Award for Outstanding Research in 2019 and was listed on the American Library Association’s list of 2020 Notable Videos for Adults.

Brief Synopsis: “For decades, child welfare authorities have been removing Native American children from their homes to “save them from being Indian.” In Maine, the first official Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the United States begins a historic investigation. Dawnland goes behind-the-scenes as this historic body grapples with difficult truths, redefines reconciliation, and charts a new course for state and tribal relations.”
