Mindful Doodling with Author & Cartoonist Cara Bean

Join us for an afternoon of relaxing, mindful doodling with author and cartoonist Cara Bean! Cara emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of drawing, helping participants to relax, focus, and express themselves through drawing and comics.
For tweens in grades 5-7 (ages 10-13) only. Free tickets will be available at the children's room desk starting at 1 PM.

Open Game Play with Virtual Reality

One Up Games brings a variety of next-gen consoles and gaming monitors to the Library. Play popular, classic, and retro games on Nintendo Switch, XBox Series S, PlayStation 4, and Oculus Quest 2.
For kids ages 8+, tweens, and teens and limited to 30 players. This event is generously sponsored by the Brookline Library Foundation.

Édouard Manet -- Pioneer of the Modern

Join art history teacher Janet Mandel for this look at Édouard Manet, who translated academic art into a wholly modern aesthetic. Sanctuary Homes with Hand in Hand

As attacks on immigrant communities grow, we all have a role to play - especially those of us who employ or rely on immigrant nannies, house cleaners, and home care workers. Join Hand in Hand for this powerful, action-oriented virtual training designed for domestic employers and allies.
Participants will learn about immigrant and domestic worker rights, and how to take meaningful action in defense of immigrant communities. Zoom registration required.

Craft Supply Swap

Calling all crafters! Start the year fresh by bringing new or gently used arts & crafts materials to swap for new-to-you supplies! Donations are not required to participate. Only arts and crafts-related items will be accepted. Suggested items include yarn, decorative paper, fabric scraps, paints, beads, etc.
This program is for all ages.

Winter Sports Fan Forum

Calling all sports fans! Come to the Putterham Library to talk what’s current, what’s to come, and maybe even share our favorite moments from sports history. Whether you’re a casual or diehard fanatic, this program is open to adults of all ages who enjoy Boston sports and connecting over the shared fan experience.

Winter Slime Time

Wednesday, December 10, 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Join us to make, play with, and take home some winter-themed slime! This program is for kids and tweens ages 7 and up. This program requires a free ticket which can be picked up from the Children's Desk at 3:00 PM on the day of the event.

Do You Love Your Local Librarian?

The Board of Trustees invite you to nominate a librarian for the American Library Association's "I Love My Librarian Award." Nominations will be accepted through December 15. Winners of the award will receive $5,000 in recognition of their achievements and be honored at a ceremony at the annual conference in June.
