Hello reader!

Read on for what's happening at the library.

Brookline Village

Friday, August 23 at 11 AM

The Public Library of Brookline is delighted to invite you to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new Library Sorter, an innovative automated materials handling system. This cutting-edge technology will revolutionize the way we manage library materials by streamlining the check-in process and efficiently sorting items into bins or carts.

As the Public Library of Brookline continues to thrive as the 4th busiest library in the Commonwealth, this new system is truly a game-changer. The Sorter would not have been possible without the generous support of The Brookline Library Foundation, and we are eager to recognize and celebrate their invaluable contribution at the ceremony.

We hope you will be able to join us for this special occasion.

Thursday, August 22 at 6:30 PM

Exchange plants, seeds, tips, tricks, and more while you make a simple decorative plant hanger using Macramé yarn.

The library will have some simple plants on hand to start any swaps, but please bring a plant with you, if only so you have a plant to make a Macramé hanger for.

Ages 16+ are welcome.

This program is generously sponsored by The Friends of the Brookline Public Library.

Tuesday, September 5 from 7 to 8:30 PM

Introverts Unite! Quietly of course.

This group starts with a half hour of unstructured social time and light refreshments followed by an hour of uninterrupted silent reading. Bring your own book, and take some time to tackle that TBR pile at the Library. The Silent Book Club does not have a preselected reading list.

While all ages are welcome at this book club, participants should be able to read quietly without disrupting others.

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS: Girls Who Code

We need volunteers to help lead our Girls Who Code club! We are partnering with Girls Who Code to bring free computer science opportunities to girls across our community. We are looking for volunteers like you to help facilitate our Clubs and would love for you to become a Volunteer Facilitator at the Public Library of Brookline! Through our free Girls Who Code Clubs (In-person or Virtual) program, you can access free resources, 120+ hours of customizable plug and play curricula, inspiring women in tech spotlights, community-building activities, comprehensive support and training, and more to help our local 5th-12th graders be brave and resilient as they use code to change the world. Plus -- NO prior coding experience needed to facilitate your Club!
