Haunted History of New England with Chris Daley

Brookline Village

Friday, November 8 at 1 PM

This one-hour presentation melds historical fact together with legend and myth to produce an interesting and fascinating new look at events that really happened and the stories of hauntings that followed them.

The topics addressed in the lecture will be Mercy Brown "The Vampire" of Exeter Rhode Island, the cursed Freetown State Forest in Massachusetts, The horrors of the Lizzie Borden House in Fall River Massachusetts, a haunted forest in the wilds of Connecticut, the ghostly happenings at Mount Washington Hotel in New Hampshire, and evidence of ghosts at the John Alden House in Duxbury Massachusetts.

Children's Read-A-Thon

Brookline Village | Coolidge Corner | Putterham

Tuesday, November 5 from 10 AM to 5 PM

Join us for our Children's Read-A-Thon at all three Brookline Library locations - Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner, and Putterham! Spend the day in the Children's Room and read a good book (or two or three)! For every half hour that kids read, they will be able to win a small prize. Snacks and activities will be available as well.

Registration is not required for this event.

Investing for Retirement

Join this workshop on Investing for Retirement by the CFA Society of Boston to get a practical overview of planning for retirement, gain an understanding of the resources available to you through employer sponsored plans and lay groundwork for a successful retirement.

You will learn about retirement planning success factors, define the unknowns and learn success strategies. There will be time for Q&A after the presentation.

Felting as a Mending Technique

Join Mariko Sugimori to learn a fun technique to repair knit fabrics and add beautiful embroidery embellishments. Feel free to bring your own knits to work on, or practice using the sample fabrics we provide!

This class is recommended for both beginners and those who have some hand-sewing experience. Registration is required and opens on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:30 PM on the Eventbrite page here.
