Ashley Bryan Movie and Craft

Ashley Bryan has written and illustrated more than fifty children’s books, many inspired by African folktales and Black American spirituals. Seeking to sustain African oral folktale traditions, Bryan also creates puppets from shells, driftwood, and other objects found near his island home off the coast of Maine which he uses for live performances and readings.

Join us for a half-hour movie celebrating Ashley Bryan’s life and work. Afterwards, we will make puppets from found objects in Ashley’s signature style!

Ages 6 and up welcome.
