Elara Trio in Concert

The Elara Trio members are Clare Nielsen (flute), Ellen Donohue-Saltman (horn), and Laura Dowd (piano). Ellen and Clare have performed together since meeting as students at New England Conservatory. They met Laura at a book group meeting in 2006, where the idea of forming a trio was born.

The Elara Trio plays chamber music written specifically for a flute, horn and piano trio, including works by contemporary composers such as Eric Ewazen, Gary Schocker and Katherine Hoover as well as composers from the Baroque and Romantic periods. The group has also created arrangements of songs from the American Songbook as well as traditional folk tunes and classical works. Their concert performances include duo and solo pieces. The March 16th concert will include the music of Eric Ewazen, Bernard Edward Müller, Mel Bonis, Betty Jackson King, Valerie Capers, and Scott Joplin.
