Ending Ageism – POSTPONED

The major obstacle to aging well is ageism. Today ageism cuts deeper into older people’s self worth and human relations, beyond the reach of law or public policy. Margaret Morganroth Gullete, for over twenty years “one of the world’s leading authorities on age an ageism,” wants to ignite a movement, #Me Too Against Ageism.

In her book Ending Ageism, Gullette provides evidence of the sudden onset of age-related shaming. Telling stories about such happenings and confronting the way aging is portrayed in media and the arts, she asks people to move from silence about their experiences, to recognition, to stating grievances, to justified resistance, and then collectively, to imaging the next steps a movement might finally take.
