The Public Library of Brookline offers a variety of services and resources to support Brookline’s English Language Learners (ELL).

One-on-One Tutoring

The Public Library of Brookline offers a tutoring service for adult ELLs. Students meet with volunteer tutors one hour a week for six months. Interested in receiving this service or volunteering? Ask to fill out an application at any library location. Student and tutor applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

ESL Conversation Groups

Practice your conversation skills in an informal group setting at one of our weekly Conversation Groups.

Our ELL Graphic Novel Club meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7 PM at Brookline Village. Find out what we’re reading this month.

Resource Collection

Dedicated collections of books for English Language Learners are available at all library locations, including language-learning books and text prep for the TOEFL and U.S. Citizenship exams. Just ask a librarian about our Basic Education collection!
