Teen Room Graduate Student Volunteers
We currently only consider volunteer applicants who are actively enrolled in a graduate school library and information science program. For example, if the applicant is attending Simmons College, then they should have completed Reference (LIS 407) and Information Organization (LIS 415). Completion of Young Adult Literature (LIS 438) and/or Children’s Literature and Media Collections (LIS 481) would be helpful, but not required. Interest in Young Adult/Teen Services is strongly preferred.
At this time, we are seeking volunteers to help with one-time, special events, including author visits, library-wide events, and special teen programs. This is a less regular schedule but will give volunteers practical experience in organizing and running programs for younger patrons.
We do occasionally need coverage in our Teen Room, especially on every other Friday during the school year. At this time, the Friday afternoon position is filled.
Interested parties should send resume, the names of three references and a short statement describing why you would like this internship to Robin Brenner, Reference and Teen Services Librarian, Brookline Public Library by emailing her at teenlibrarian (at) brooklinelibrary (dot) org.
All volunteers are required to fill out a CORI form.
