Four Women, an Open Car, and a Cause with Anne Gass
THURSDAY, March 5 at 7 PM
In September 1915 four women embarked in an Overland Six car from San Francisco’s Panama Pacific International Exposition on the country’s first cross-country road trip for a cause. They were carrying a petition to Congress and President Wilson demanding an amendment to the United States Constitution enfranchising women. Historian Anne Gass retraced their route in 2015 and recounts it in this lively, illustrated presentation.

Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Brookline and Friends of the Brookline Public Library, in celebration of the League’s Centennial Year and the 19th Amendment.
