The Public Library of Brookline is here to help fill your days with books, stories, art, and so much more. Though our Library buildings are closed, we have many online resources--from virtual programs to answering your reference questions to digital books, movies, magazines, and more! Online Storytimes, Resources, and Activities for Youth

Stuck at home and looking for something to do? We’ve got you covered with our extensive list of family-friendly resources, activities, and storytimes! This page is being updated on a regular basis, so make sure to check back for new resources!

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, be sure to check out Harry Potter: A History of Magic, a virtual, in-depth exhibit courtesy of the British Library. If you’re a fan of the author Dav Pilkey, check out Dav Pilkey at Home where the creator of Dog Man and Captain Underpants will be providing drawing lessons, read-alouds, and more.

Want to listen to stories read by LeVar Burton? Check out his Twitter livestream for kids stories on Mondays at noon, YA stories on Wednesdays at 3 PM, and adult stories on Fridays at 9 PM.

Read-At-Home-A-Thon

We might be a little biased, but we can’t think of a better way to spend our time than by reading for fun. Kids, tweens, and teens, join our Read-At-Home-A-Thon as we try to spend 1,000 hours reading! And remember: there’s no wrong way to read.

Virtual Girls Who Code

Virtual Girls Who Code

WEDNESDAYS at 6:30 PM

Join us for weekly Girls Who Code club meetings--virtually! As with our in-person meetings, the club is for members age 10-18 (in grades 5-12) only. While these sessions are being hosted for the Girls Who Code club members who have already been meeting since October, new members are welcome to join virtually.


Please register for club meetings be emailing our facilitator, Gina, at gina.p.joseph@gmail.com to be invited to the club Zoom. Participants will receive an invitation to join the Zoom room before the weekly club meeting begins.

ideaSPACE Craft-Along: Cardboard Loom Weaving

Join the ideaSPACE team in this virtual workshop and learn to make and use your own cardboard loom. Watch and try it later on your own, or bring your supplies and craft along with us! You’ll need:
  • A Piece of Cardboard
  • A Ruler
  • A Pair of Scissors
  • Yarn (or Unwanted Fabric Items)
