Sewing Masks and 3D Printing Face Shields
|
|
Library staff have been putting the ideaSPACE sewing machines and 3D printers to use to help our community. So far, we've sewn over 200 masks to donate to the Brookline Senior Center and Brookline Food Pantry. We've also 3D printed parts for over 60 face shields for The Makery's COVID-19 response efforts. We're glad that we can use Library resources help support our community.

Virtual Knitting Circle
|

Starting a new project? Curious about cabling? Tune into the Public Library of Brookline’s knitting circle! This is a casual, drop in virtual program for knitters of all skill levels and ages. Tune in with your own project, or bring yarn and a pair of needles and we’ll help you get started with the basic techniques.

Virtual Japanese Paper Theater (Kamishibai) with Yumi
|

Join storyteller Yumi Izuyama to experience kamishibai virtually, as she retells Goethe’s famous fable, The Boy and the Jaguar! Kamishibai is a Japanese paper storytelling method that will engage kids and adults alike.
|
|
The program will appear in two parts, on May 13 and 20. Enjoy STEM art activities after the performance to enhance the engagement of the children and show how these stories can relate to them and their own families and community. Recommended for children ages four to seven years old.

Virtual Boabom Classes
|
|
WEDNESDAYS, May 13, 20, and 27 at 7 PM
|
Join Yemado, Director of the Boston School of Boabom, for a 3-week online course in Boabom, a system of breathing, meditation, movement, and defense with roots in ancient Tibet. This course will introduce both the gentle and faster systems of movement within the Boabom Arts. Classes will practice breathing techniques, stretching and strengthening exercises, and movements designed to build coordination and focus, combining them into a harmonious class that is both relaxing and invigorating.

All you need to participate are comfortable clothes that you can move around in, enough space to stretch your arms fully, and be able to take a couple of steps. No prior experience is required. All are welcome!
