Introduction to Salsa Dancing

Learn the basics of salsa dancing with Johnny Giraldo from Salsa y Control Dance Company. This fun and engaging class will introduce the basic steps and turns, along with footwork isolations and exercises that will get you moving and dancing in no time. By the end of the class, you’ll combine what you’ve learned in a short, fun footwork combination.

Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear. No dance partner necessary. Generously sponsored by the Library Trustees.

Heading for Extinction (And What To Do About It)

In this talk, speakers from Extinction Rebellion Boston will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the current psychology around climate change, and offer solutions through the study of social movements.

This event is part of a larger effort by Massachusetts libraries and CREW (Communities Responding to Extreme Weather) to highlight Climate Preparedness Week and create more opportunities for community discussion and involvement.

This group meets at the Brookline Village Library on the fourth Wednesday of the month, starting on September 25. Copies of the first selection, The Black Tides of Heaven by JY Yang, are available at the front desk of the Brookline Village Library. The audiobook is also available via Hoopla.

How to Create a Graphic Novel Page

Like reading comics and graphic novels? Now it’s your turn to start your own in this comics-making boot camp! We’ll discuss character development and plot strategy, then you’ll be coached in drawing a graphic novel page. In addition to storytelling, topics include lettering, penciling, and inking.
