Virtual Introduction to the Museum Of Bad Art
THURSDAY, October 14 at 7 PM
Meet the Museum Of Bad Art, dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition, and celebration of bad art in all its forms. The MOBA exhibits art that will be seen in no other venue. Since 1993, they have collected art from thrift stores, yard sales, sidewalk trash, and even the artists themselves. They analyze, compare to classic art, and share with fans around the world.
At this talk, Louise Reilly Sacco, Permanent Acting Interim Executive Director of the Museum Of Bad Art, will introduce the museum and its collection. She will present pieces from the MOBA with insightful, pithy, and often humorous commentary. After the talk, you’ll have a chance to ask your questions in an interactive Q&A.

On Exhibit at the Library
Want to see some very good art, or learn more about local history? Check out these exhibits the next time you stop by the Library!
Who Was Florida Ruffin Ridley?: Born in 1860, Florida Ruffin Ridley was a trailblazer for justice, organizing against racist violence and for women's suffrage. She and her husband were also likely the first African American homeowners in Brookline. Visit this exhibit to learn about her life and work. This display is curated by Hidden Brookline: bringing to light the hidden history of slavery & freedom.
Masks and Artwork by Mexican Artisans: The artisans of Mexico's 32 states express their cultures, ancestry, and customs through their art in different ways. Luis Carvajal, born in Mexico City, has collected masks, sculptures, and more on his travels throughout the country. Pieces from his collection will be on display throughout October.
Father and Child: John Wilson (1922–2015), who lived in Brookline for over 50 years, was deeply devoted to his family, and to the relationship between fathers and children. This multimedia exhibit includes both original pieces (such as the one above) and information about sculptures permanently installed in the area.

Virtual Taiji Qigong
Starting WEDNESDAY, October 13 at 10:30 AM
This series of 10 classes will introduce a breathing and movement practice called Taiji Qigong 18 Forms. This set, developed by Professor Lin Hou Sheng, is made up of a combination of movements from Taiji Chuan (Tai Chi) and Qigong breathing and movements. All classes are drop-in, so you can attend any or all sessions.
When done regularly, this set has been shown to promote relaxation. It is simple to learn and the moves can be adapted to suit the needs of the individual. We will also work with various auxiliary practices to support the learning of the Taiji Qigong set, including some joint and muscle limbering movements, breathing exercises, and standing and seated meditation practice.
