Virtual Okonomiyaki Cooking Class
|
|
WEDNESDAY, March 9 at 5 PM
|
Let’s make Okonomiyaki, A Japanese Savory Pancake! Learn about and make Okonomiyaki with Table for Two’s Wa-Shokuiku: Learn. Cook. Eat Japanese! Okonomiyaki is a delicious and healthy Japanese savory pancake that is sometimes called Japanese Pizza. The pancake is chock-full of crunchy cabbage and topped with a yummy glaze.

To accompany the program, we have 33 Okonomiyaki kits available. Kit reservation starts Monday, February 28 at 6 PM. Visit our website for more details and sign-ups. This is a family-friendly event. Kids of all ages and their grownups are welcome, and we encourage families to enjoy the program together!

Book Donations
|
The Friends of the Brookline Library are happy to announce that we can start accepting book donations again! To donate books at the Brookline Village Library, put your donations in the laundry bins near the circulation desk or on the loading dock behind the library. At Coolidge Corner or Putterham, you can bring your donations to the main desk. If you are donating a large amount of books (more than one bag), bring them to the loading dock at the Brookline Village Library.
Please remember that we cannot accept textbooks, magazines, journals, or anything that is damaged or moldy (volunteers sort all donations by hand). You can contact the Town of Brookline to find out how to recycle these materials, or use the recycle wizard feature on the Town's website.
Finally, the Friends are looking for a volunteer to coordinate the book sale at the Putterham Library. Please contact friendsofbrooklinelibrary@gmail.com if you are interested.

This one-time event will walk you through building a character sheet, the basics of the game, and the mechanics of using online programs and resources like D&D Beyond, Roll20, and Discord. Please set up your free accounts on dndbeyond.com, roll20.net, and discord.com before this event. We'll be starting monthly D&D sessions on Wednesday, March 9, and this introduction is a great way for new players to learn about the game before the campaign begins.

Mount Washington Observatory: Home of the World’s Worst Weather

Why is Mt. Washington called the “Home of the World’s Worst Weather”? This program will explore the unique life and work of the weather observers stationed on Mt. Washington and learn why, for a mountain its size, Mt. Washington hosts some of the worst weather on Earth.

Couldn't make our talk on using the Library's digitized newspaper collection? Not to worry, it's now available online! The Public Library of Brookline provides online access to digitized Brookline newspapers from 1870 to 1941. Ken Liss of the Brookline Historical Society explores this great resource, with tips and tricks for learning about people, places, and events from 70 years of Brookline history.
