Shared Habitat Earth: Art and Activism

THURSDAY, April 21 at 7 PM

Artists touch hearts and raise awareness, inviting us to look and see. Activists engage directly, through hands-on work, advocacy, and legislative action. And sometimes art and activism are so intimately connected, it’s hard to tell the difference!

Come celebrate Earth Day with artists and activists in conjunction with the group exhibit Shared Habitat Earth (SHE), on view at the Coolidge Corner Library April 16-June 30. This virtual panel features speakers from SHE, Mothers Out Front Brookline, and Surfrider Foundation Massachusetts. Hear how one artist went from painting to activism, and how another uses discarded plastics to create art. Feeling inspired? Learn about opportunities to take action with our local environmental groups.

Sign up here to attend the panel!

Panelists:
  • Olivia Fischer Fox, artist and coordinator of the Mothers Out Front Brookline Tree Team
  • Ann Coles, co-coordinator of the Mothers Out Front Brookline Zero Waste Team-Diane Sokal, co-coordinator of the Brookline Mothers Out Front Beyond Gas Team
  • Rebecca McGee Tuck, sculptor and volunteer with Surfrider Foundation Massachusetts
  • Barbara Eskin, artist, curator, and organizer of SHE
