UPCOMING EVENTS

Making Your Own Mirror:

Self Portraits + Gender Expression

MakingYourOwnMirror

TUESDAY, August 23 at 7 PM

Teens and tweens, join us for a virtual workshop, part of the LGBTQIA+ Summer Series!

What are the ways you express yourself? Do you ever feel like there are limits to your self-expression? Art can be a very liberating and experimental way to play with and explore gender identity. We will discuss how at times appearance and other’s perceptions of us can conflict with one’s identity or how you see yourself. You will be invited to explore gender identity and expression through self-portraiture. We will create a working definition of self-portraiture and all skill levels are encouraged to join! This program will be facilitated by Paula Mascuch (they/them).

Brookline Village Library

FRIDAY, August 26 at 3 PM

Tweens and teens, want to make something awesome and meet the Library’s ideaSPACE tools up close? Then ideaSPACE Make & Meet is for you! These drop-in, hands-on activities are designed to give you a chance to ask questions and get creative with some of our favorite machines in the collection.

This month, we’re leaving the making behind and trying our hands at breaking instead! Don your safety glasses and ready your screwdrivers – we’ll be taking apart some old Chromebooks to see what’s inside. Find and label all the parts you can to win your own breakerSPACE button set or tote bag! Swing by anytime between 3 and 4 PM to join in! This breakerSPACE is for tweens and teens only.

Tween/Teen Outdoor Scavenger Hunt

202208TweenTeenScavengerHunt
Calling all tweens and teens: set out for adventure in our Outdoor Scavenger Hunt! This scavenger hunt has three quests to complete, each starting at all of our Libraries: Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner, and Putterham, available now through Sunday September 25. There are three clues per quest, inside and outside. Be prepared to walk a bit from each Library for the final clue, but not too far. Bring a pencil or pen along with you as well.

Once you finish each quest of the scavenger hunt, you should collect a sticker that proves you found the final hidden clue. Place the sticker on your map. Every time you collect one quest sticker, head to the nearest Library to collect a prize. When you collect all three stickers, head to the nearest Library to get your extra special prize!

This scavenger hunt is for tweens and teens (ages 10-18). However, if you want to work together as a group or family (with a tween or teen included) to complete the hunt, that’s fine!
