A Letter from the Library Director
|
Just a quick note to wish everyone happy holidays, and a joyous new year. 2020 has been one for the books, and we want to thank you all for your patience and understanding, and for the many messages of thanks and encouragement that you have sent us. We have received notes, emails, Google ratings and artwork throughout the pandemic, and they have been lovingly displayed around the buildings. They have been wonderful reminders of who we serve and how glad we are to do it.

Special thanks to the Library Board of Trustees, the COVID-19 Task Force, and Health Commissioner Dr. Swannie Jett for their steady leadership during the most challenging year in recent memory. Called on repeatedly to make difficult decisions for the health and safety of the public and the staff, they worked hard to optimize services while respecting the medical necessity of safety protocols.

For the last time this year, I want to draw your attention to the staff of the three libraries. The Town is so lucky to have a thoroughly professional, progressive, dedicated staff. It is their efforts, their ideas, and their actions that have enabled us to provide many creative solutions to the challenges of 2020.

I wish you all light and hope for 2021, and we can’t wait to see you again.

Holiday Hours
|
|
|
All Public Library of Brookline locations will close at 4:30 PM on Thursday, December 31 and remain closed Friday, January 1. Regular hours will resume Saturday, January 2.

Children, Tween, & Teen 2020 Book Round Up
|
|
|
As 2020 comes to a close, we want to know - what were your favorite children's books of the year? Every week from now until January, take a short poll (it takes about 60 seconds!) at brklib.com/bookvotes and tell us what you think! We'll share the results at the end of January. This week, we're focusing on books that center connections: books about our strong relationships with our family, friends, and loved ones.

Virtual Cirque Fit Series

Build and maintain strength and mobility at home with Cirque Fit, a class from Esh Circus Arts. Classes will include a thorough warm-up, followed by exercises to build full-body strength, stability, and flexibility – all with a fun circus-inspired flair! Children's Programming
|
|
There will be no Children's, Tween, or Teen programs from Monday, December 21 through Saturday, January 2.
|

We're resuming programming the week of January 4 with a brand new storytime schedule: we'll be holding storytime on Tuesdays at 3:30 PM and Saturdays at 10:30 AM. Please check out our calendar for more information.
