Library Closed for Independence Day

All Public Library of Brookline locations will be closed Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, July 6.

Library Reducing Late Fees

The Library is happy that we were able to waive fines to allow ample opportunity to return overdue items during the COVID-19 Pandemic. While fines will resume on July 1, we are excited to announce a major reduction in late fees.
  • All children's, tween, and teen items will be FINE FREE!
  • All adult items will be charged $0.15 per day (before, many audiovisual items were $0.50 per day).
  • Please note that Commonwealth Catalog and interlibrary loan items (materials not available through our Minuteman Library Network) still incur a $2 daily fine when returned late.
We encourage returning items on time, as the replacement cost for an item will be charged to your account when an item is overdue for a lengthy amount of time, and to give others a chance to access the material. We are so glad to be able to reduce our fines, and to eliminate late fees for all children's, tween, and teen items!
