THURSDAY, December 1 from 5-8 PM

The Library is delighted to be participating in the First Light Holiday Celebration 2022, organized by the Brookline Chamber of Commerce. This year, we’re partnering with Welcome Blanket Brookline to offer Welcome Blanket craft kits. These kits contain supplies and instructions to make crochet squares that will be turned into blankets for immigrants and refugees. You can grab a kit to-go or get crafting in the Library. Volunteers from Welcome Blanket Brookline will be on hand during the First Light Holiday Celebration (5-8 PM) to help you get started with your project.

This craft is geared towards adults, teens, and tweens and is best for those with some crochet experience. We'll also have blanket square coloring sheets available for kids. This event is generously sponsored by the Library Trustees.

English Language Learning Tutoring

ELL Tutoring Image
We are excited to announce that the learner waitlist for our one-on-one tutoring program will reopen on Tuesday, December 6 at 10 AM on the ELL webpage.

Our language tutoring program matches adult English learners with volunteer tutors for one-on-one sessions to practice English, learn about the local community, and share cultural knowledge. The learners and tutors meet weekly for one hour for six months in person or online.

Volunteers are fluent or native English language speakers with tutor training, but are not professional teachers. The program is limited to the residents of Brookline or the Greater Boston Area. A six-month commitment is required. If you have any questions, email the ELL coordinators at brkenglish@minlib.net or call 617-730-2369.
