CELEBRATE NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK!

Brookline Village and Putterham Libraries

Sunday, April 8-Saturday, April 14

Celebrate your love of libraries with us! This upcoming week we are hosting activities including:
  • Scavenger hunts at each location - complete each one and get a small prize!
  • Scratch tickets available at each location. Every day you check out an item during the week, pick up a scratch ticket at the circulation desk, scratch off the square, and see what you might have won.
  • Librarians will be dressing up for Wacky Wednesday (how wacky can we get?) and Fandom Friday (dress to show off your favorites things: books, characters, sports team, whatever you're a fan of). We'd love some company if you want to show off your wildest or most fannish clothes.

SATURDAY May 5

Mark your calendar: On Saturday, May 5, the Library Foundation is hosting Kentucky Derby Day at the Coolidge Corner Library – before the location closes for a brief renovation.

We’ll sip mint juleps, listen to Bluegrass music, and watch the 144th running of The Kentucky Derby – all while raising money to support the renovation and fund technology at each of our libraries. When we heard that the Coolidge Library would temporarily close for repairs, the Library Foundation offered to contribute additional capital to make significant upgrades for the future.

Get your Derby hats ready and join your friends and neighbors to watch the most exciting two minutes in sports! Help us set the pace early by taking two minutes now to pledge advance support by March 22 and be listed on the invitation.
Click on DerbyDay@Coolidge for more information and ticket sales.

Five Team Brookline runners have been training all winter to be ready to run the Boston Marathon on April 16. They are raising money for the Library Foundation's programs. Encourage their hard work by checking out their individual pages here and make a donation to bring them closer to their fundraising goals! Cheer for them on April 16, Patriots Day and Marathon Day, as they make their way down Beacon Street.

MEET STAFF PETS

Delilah

What you call them every day other than their name: Her nickname is "Li Li (pronounced Lie Lie)
A favorite quirk in their behavior: My favorite thing that she does is "popcorn," which is kind of like a guinea pig happy dance - a wiggly jump they do when happy or excited.
Favorite sleeping spot: Her favorite place to sleep is her late cagemate "Baby's" polka-dot snuggle cushion.
Can they do a trick? The one trick that Delilah does is to drag her food dish into her hiding spot - repeatedly - if she suspects that you might want to eat her pellets.
