Summer Reading for Adults and Teens!

The Public Library of Brookline will be holding two adult summer reading activities: Summer Reading Bingo and Scratch Tickets/Raffle. Our teen summer reading returns this summer with our Scratch Ticket Challenge.

Adult and teen summer reading run from Monday, July 2 until Friday, August 31.

Both adult and teen summer reading activities will be held at the Brookline Village and Putterham Libraries. Sussman House will not be participating this summer.

FOR ADULTS

Adult SR Bingo

BINGO!

Get a sticker each time you check out a book that fits a description on the card (limit of one per day). Return the final, winning book in person to get bingo. First-time bingo winners will receive a Public Library of Brookline tote bag. After your first Bingo, winners receive a piece of candy for each subsequent bingo.

SCRATCH TICKETS
Every time you check out a book, you can receive an instant-win scratch ticket. This is limited to one ticket per patron per day. Scratch off a ticket to reveal a prize, then present it to circulation to immediately receive the prize.
Prizes range from a piece of candy, to handmade bookmarks, to $5.00 Brookline Booksmith gift cards! Prizes cannot be exchanged.

Additionally, if you write down your name and email on the ticket you will be entered into our grand prize raffle. Two winners will be drawn at the end of the summer for $50 Brookline Booksmith Gift Cards.

FOR TEENS

TEEN SUMMER
You could win a giant gummy (gummy bear, gummy pizza, gummy sushi!), bluetooth speakers, or adorable plushies (to name just a few prizes) for checking titles out of the library. Make the most out of summer reading by participating in our Summer Reading Scratch Ticket Challenge.

If you’re going into grades 7 through 12, every day when you check out any title, you’ll get an instant-win scratch ticket. There is no need to sign up: if you win a prize, you win instantly. If you don’t win, fill out your information on the back of the ticket and you will be automatically entered in our grand prize drawing: a $50 gift card to wherever you want!

If you recommend a title of a favorite song, artist, or story about music (including comics, audio, books, TV shows, and movies) on one of our (paper) vinyl records you can get one extra scratch ticket per day.

To get a scratch ticket even if you’re not in the area, use this form and submit a short written review for a title you’ve read, watched, or played this summer. Must be at least fifty words long to qualify for a ticket. Once we’ve received your review, we’ll pull the next scratch ticket from the pile and let you know if you’re a winner.

WHAT'S YOUR FOUR?

What's Your Four Display
Did you know: children who read four or more books over the summer fare better on reading-comprehension tests in the fall than their peers. Massachusetts Libraries are challenging all state residents to read four books this summer - and to share their experience with others. So tell us by sharing #WhatsYourFour. MEET STAFF PETS

Viola

What you call them every day other than their name: Miss Kitty, Fuzzbutt, Miss Pooper (an apt name if there ever was one), and Triangle Face.
A favorite quirk in their behavior: She likes to sleep behind my head on the arm of the couch, as a pillow of sorts, especially when my hair is wet from the shower.
Favorite sleeping spot: On top of her humans wherever she is most warm and cuddled.
Can they do a trick?
No, she's the equivalent of a plump, aristocratic lady who eats bonbons while reclining on a chaise. It's our job to entertain her.
