Get Involved
|
|
The Brookline Library Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Public Library of Brookline, is reaching out to our community with opportunities to contribute to our Library’s future. Over the past 20 years, funds raised by the Foundation have supported renovations, technology, books and materials, programs, museum passes, and more.
|
There are a variety of ways to contribute to the Foundation: as board members, as committee members for events, helping with outreach to the community, assisting with social media and technology usage, fundraising, and board development.
|

Library Closed for Labor Day
|
|
|
All Public Library of Brookline locations will be closed Sunday, September 2, and Monday, September 3, in observance of Labor Day.
|
|
|
|
Delayed Opening September 5
|
|
|
All Public Library of Brookline will open at noon on Wednesday, September 5. The Library will be closed in the morning for staff development.
|

ELL Graphic Novel Club
|
|
|

WEDNESDAY, September 12, at 7 PM

|
Join us for a brand-new book group!
|
|
|
The ELL Graphic Novel Club is open to adults learning English, no matter what level. Fluent first- and second-language speakers area also welcome. The group reads a variety of graphic novels and graphic memoirs and meets every second Wednesday of the month to discuss them. Snacks will be provided.
|
|
|
The first book selection will be available at the meeting, and the group will then select future titles.

Author Talk: Carol Anderson

Join author Carol Anderson as she discusses her newest book, One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression Is Destroying Our Democracy, in conversation with Radio Boston producer Paris Alston.

Build Hogwarts
|
|
|
|
MONDAY, September 17, at 7 PM
|
Join fellow Harry Potter fans and LEGO builders to work together to build the epic, over 6,000 brick set of Lego Hogwarts. Participants are limited to builders high school age (grades 9 through 12) and adults due to the complexity of the construction.
|
|
We will meet weekly on Mondays for five sessions starting September 17 through October 22 (with no meeting on October 8 due to the holiday.) Builders will have the chance to add their name to our permanent display of Hogwarts in the library.
|
|

Children who read four or more books over the summer fare better on reading comprehension tests in the fall than their peers who read one or no books over the summer.

The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners is challenging all residents of Massachusetts to read four books this summer – and to share their experience with others.
