Library Closed November 12

Veterans Day Closure
All Public Library of Brookline locations will be closed Monday, November 12, in observance of Veterans Day. We will be open regular hours Sunday, November 11, and resume regular hours on Tuesday, November 13.

Borrow a State Parks Pass!

Looking to explore one of the 150 beautiful state parks in Massachusetts? Come to the Brookline Village Library to pick up a Massachusetts DCR Park Pass, which allows you free parking at DCR facilities. These passes can be checked out for two weeks, reserved through our catalog, and picked up at the Reference Desk. You can learn more about Massachusetts state parks here.

Family Bingo Night

Bring the family and compete for prizes in a fun-filled evening playing Bingo. All Bingo game supplies will be provided. Snacks will be served. For ages 6 and up.

Writing Workshop with Virginia Pye

WEDNESDAY, November 14 at 7 PM

This workshop will focus on how to get started writing a story, where to look for inspiration, and how to shape the beginning. Award-winning author Virginia Pye will offer prompts to help participants get started and allow time for writing during the session. She will also offer insights about publication and share her own story of persistence as a writer.

Recommendations from Hank Phillippi Ryan

On Tuesday, November 27, the Library Trustees will host An Evening With Hank Phillippi Ryan and Callie Crossley: the Story Behind the Story. This event will explore the idea of hunting for the real story, the work of reporters to discover and convey the truth, and the true crime stories that inspired Ryan's new thriller, Trust Me.

Leading up to the event, we'll be sharing recommendations from Hank Phillippi Ryan herself. Check out some of her favorite works of true crime narrative nonfiction.
