Survey: Putterham Library Hours

brookline putterham library front facade
In the Spring of 2017, Members of the Community met with Library Trustees to inquire about the possibility of expanded hours at the Putterham Library. In June 2018, in conjunction with the Coolidge Corner Library renovation, the Putterham Library began a pilot study of its hours and usage, adopting the Coolidge Corner Library's regular hours (M/W 10 am - 6 pm, Tu/TH 10 am - 9 pm, F/Sa 9:30 am - 5 pm, Su 1 pm - 5 pm) for this purpose.
As part of this study, the Library is interested in hearing from the community regarding these expanded hours. Please take the quick survey below to share your feedback.

Get Involved

The Brookline Library Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Public Library of Brookline, is reaching out to our community with opportunities to contribute to our Library’s future. Over the past 20 years, funds raised by the Foundation have supported renovations, technology, books and materials, programs, museum passes, and more.

There are a variety of ways to contribute to the Foundation: as board members, as committee members for events, helping with outreach to the community, assisting with social media and technology usage, fundraising, and board development.

If you are interested in learning more about volunteering, please write to info@brooklinelibraryfoundation.org. We’d love to get to know you better and talk it over!

Recipes: Swedish Apple-Cranberry Pie

Enjoy a recipe—and a reading recommendation—courtesy of Library staff. This week, try Swedish Apple-Cranberry Pie, from Anne, Assistant Library Director for Administration.
Ingredients: Apples (peeled and sliced), cranberries, 1 tsp cinnamon, 3/4 cup margarine (melted), 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 egg, optional 1/2 cup nuts of your choice.
Directions: Fill pie pan 2/3 full with apples and cranberries. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. In a bowl, combine margarine, sugar, flour, egg, and nuts; add a pinch of salt. Pour over the fruit. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until top is golden brown.
Pair with: The Laughing Policeman, if you want a Swedish mystery novel, or The Botany of Desire, if you want to learn more about apples.
