Hogwarts at the Library

SUNDAY, November 10

Diagon Alley awaits at our 2019 Hogwarts at the Library event for all ages! Join us to venture through our magical shops and activities. We'll have an afternoon event for kids and families, as well as an evening event for teens and adults. Registration starts Wednesday, October 16 at 6 PM. The event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Brookline Library.

Girls Who Code Meet and Greet

Join us to learn more about Girls Who Code at the Public Library of Brookline. This meet and greet is for anyone who is curious about the club and would like to meet this year’s facilitators. You do not have to attend this meet and greet to be a part of this year’s club, but we’re here to answer any questions and explain more about what Girls Who Code offers.
|
This year our club meetings will be held on Wednesdays starting October 16 at 6:30 PM. The club regularly meets on Wednesdays between October and June 2020, with breaks during school vacations. This club is open to girls in grades 5 to 12.

Library Closed for Indigenous Peoples Day

All Public Library of Brookline locations will be closed Monday, October 14 for Indigenous Peoples Day. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, October 15.

Rapper, singer, and writer Dessa will discuss her new book, My Own Devices, in conversation with Michael Pollan. My Own Devices is an uncompromising and candid account of a life in motion, in music, and in love. Dessa is as compelling on the page as she is onstage, making My Own Devices the debut of a unique and deft literary voice. This program is in partnership with the Brookline Booksmith.

Join us as the Wheelock Family Theatre previews their new fall musical, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. Families will get a chance to see a sneak peek of the show, meet some of the cast members, and do a fun Willy Wonka craft. Attendees will be entered to win free tickets to the Wheelock Family Theatre’s performance of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka for themselves and their families!

For Freedoms Sign Project Installation

TUESDAY, October 15 at 5 PM

This event will highlight the installation of the For Freedoms Lawn Sign Project amplifying the voices of Brookline’s teenagers. While most political decisions are being made by adults, these lawn signs represent the hopes of Brookline’s teens for their lives, their communities, their country, and their world. Signs will be on display throughout October.
