Speaking From the Heart: Byron Rushing

Join us for the final installment of our Speaking From the Heart Series at the Brookline Village Library on Saturday, June 14 at 7 PM! Civil Rights advocate and former State Representative Byron Rushing will give a talk called "Memory: Remembering on Purpose, Forgetting on Purpose."

This series is presented in partnership with Hidden Brookline and the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community Relations. It is generously sponsored by the Brookline Library Foundation.

A Year in the Life of Hall's Pond: Photographs by Lane Turner

Join the Friends of Hall’s Pond for the first in a series of events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the designation of Hall’s Pond as a nature sanctuary. Award winning Boston Globe Photographer and Brookline resident Lane Turner visited Hall’s Pond repeatedly over the course of 2024 and has produced images that surprise, delight and reveal various perspectives on the life of the pond. Lane will discuss his experiences capturing the many images that he will show. Prints of his work will also be hung up in Hunneman Hall to view up close. There will be a ten minute introduction to the Friends of Hall’s Pond at the start, a question and answer session and light refreshments at the end. Please register to guarantee admittance.

Queer YA Author Panel

Brookline Village

Tuesday, June 17 from 6 to 8 PM

The Public Library of Brookline is proud to present an evening with local Queer YA authors Sara Farizan, Sacha Lamb, and Kasey LeBlanc! Teen Librarian Tori will moderate the conversation and facilitate audience questions. Following the event, Brookline Booksmith will be on site selling the author's titles and the event will conclude with a book signing from all three authors. While this event is geared towards teens, anyone is welcome to attend!

Learn to Draw Pokémon

Coolidge Corner

Friday, June 13 from 2 to 3:30 PM

Kids ages 7-12 are invited to join Pop Up Art School and the Public Library of Brookline for a fun and engaging art class focused on learning to draw your favorite Pokémon characters, including Pikachu! An instructor will guide you with step-by-step instructions using basic shapes, making it easy for all skill levels. As you draw, enjoy playing Pokémon trivia and showcase your knowledge. Perfect for Pokémon fans and budding artists alike!

Due to program capacity limits, tickets will be available at the children's desk starting at 1:30 PM on the day of the program.
