New Meeting Rooms!

Working on a group project? Need space for a meeting? Need a large enough study space? We are very excited to announce that our two Meeting Rooms are now open and ready to reserve at the Brookline Village Library! Meeting Rooms are for groups of three to eight people and can be booked for up to three hours a day. You can reserve a room the day of use or one day ahead of time. To book a time for your group or if you have any questions, please visit the Reference Desk, use the chat function on our website, or give us a call at 617-730-2370.

Library Closed for Independence Day

All Public Library of Brookline locations will be closed Monday, July 4 for Independence Day. Regular summer hours will resume Tuesday, July 5.

Nature Robots

WEDNESDAY, June 29 at 3:30 PM

Join us in the Children’s Garden at the Brookline Village Library to make nature robots. We’ll explore our outdoor space; collect sticks, leaves, and flowers; and experiment to find out what makes the best robot! Drop in anytime between 3:30 and 4:30. This program is intended for children ages 5-9.

If the weather is not suitable for an outdoor program, the program will be moved indoors. Any location change will be announced on library social media and our calendar listing will be updated. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Brookline Public Library.

Outdoor Puppet Storytime

with Through Me to You Puppetry

THURSDAY, June 30 at 6:30 PM

Join us for a fun and interactive puppet storytime with Leigh Baltzer from Through Me to You Puppetry. This program is recommended for ages 0–5, but kids and families of all ages are welcome!

This program will be outdoors at Brookline Village on the lawn between the Library and Town Hall. If the weather is not suitable for an outdoor program, it will be moved inside to Hunneman Hall. Any location change will be announced on Library social media and our calendar listing will be updated. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Brookline Public Library.

ELL Summer Series: Grammar and Games

6 TUESDAYS, July 12 - August 16 at 11 AM

Join us for the ELL Summer Series, Grammar and Games – 6 sessions to practice English grammar in a fun way. We will review grammar concepts (simple present tense, simple past tense, pronouns, and action verbs) and play games to practice. This group is for adult beginners and advanced beginners. Students should know the alphabet and be able to read, hear, and speak simple words and simple phrases.

Grammar and Games will meet at the Brookline Village Library for 6 Tuesdays, July 12 – August 16 from 11 AM-12 PM. Registration is required. Sign-up will open on Friday July 1 at 10 AM on our ELL webpage.

Please note that we will not be able to accommodate children or strollers due to the space constraints. If you have any questions about this program, please email brkenglish@minlib.net.

Paper Marbling in the Park

Tuesday, June 28 at 3 PM

Drop by Winthrop Square Park in Coolidge Corner between 3 and 4 PM for a fun paper marbling craft. We will be using liquid watercolors and shaving foam for this craft, so be sure to dress appropriately (including sunscreen). For ages 5–9.

If the weather is not suitable for an outdoor program, the program will be moved indoors to the Coolidge Corner Library Meeting Room. Animal World Experience: The Scoop on Poop

FRIDAY, July 8 at 3 PM

Discover the wonderful world of poop like never before with Matt from Animal Word Experience! He will teach you how to be a “Poop Detective” and you will even get to meet some real-life super poopers! Recommended for ages 5–9.

This program will meet at Winthrop Square Park, outside the Minot Rose Garden, so bring a blanket, water bottle, and sunscreen! In the event of rain or extreme heat, we will meet at the Brookline Village Library in Hunneman Hall. Any location change will be announced on Library social media and our calendar listing will be updated. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Brookline Public Library.

Boabom Meditation Series

Boabom Meditation Series Summer 2022

Begins THURSDAY, July 14 at 6 PM

Join us at the Library as we partner with The Boston School of Boabom for three meditation sessions! Boabom Meditation is a system of meditation techniques that use breathwork and the imagination to increase focus, release stress, build calm, and develop positive energy. This series will meet on Thursdays, July 14, 21, and 28–you are welcome to attend any or all sessions. Feel free to bring mats and pillows.

These sessions will be led by Yemado, a senior teacher of Boabom, Seamm Jasani, and Yaanbao, and the Director of The Boston School of Boabom, located right here in Brookline. He has taught courses and seminars throughout the United States, as well as in Europe, Asia, and South America. He is the co-translator and editor of a number of books about the Boabom Arts, including The Secret Art of Seamm-Jasani.
