Open Game Play with Virtual Reality
|

One Up Games brings a variety of next-gen consoles and gaming monitors to the Library! Featuring popular, classic, and retro games, plus virtual reality. All attendees must have a free ticket from the Children’s desk, which are available a half hour before the program begins. This program is for children ages 8 and up.

Bake It Till You Make It
|
|
TUESDAY, December 5 at 7 PM
|
Join us on Zoom for an evening of cooking and conversation. Bake It Till You Make It combines a bake-along with a conversation about the importance of mental health, all in a welcoming, community-focused environment. Mental health advocate Dayna Altman will guide us through making Oreo truffles while sharing her own story, using baking to give an important conversation a fun, welcoming setting.

Book Sale, Food Drive, and Toy Drive
|
Beginning today, the Friends of the Brookline Library Book Sale will have a selection of gift books and CDs available for sale on the main floor of the Brookline Village Library. The regular book sale will also continue on the ground floor.
|
The Library is pleased to partner with groups around town to host both a food drive and toy drive taking place now through December 8. The food drive is organized by students at Brookline High School and Project351, a youth leadership organization. The food drive is at the Brookline Village and Coolidge Corner Libraries and accepting the following items: personal care items, cooking oils, non-perishables, household items (no canned foods).

Animals of the Desert vs Rainforest
with Joys of Nature

WEDNESDAY, December 6 at 1 and 3 PM
|
From a hot, dry desert to a wet, leafy rainforest, all animals have special adaptations to survive in their habitats. How do they find food and avoid predators? How do some species deal with lots of water, or very little water? Come find out as you meet some desert and rainforest animals up close, and learn about how their wild relatives survive.
|
We’ll offer two identical 30 minute sessions of this program, at 1 PM and 3 PM. Both sessions require a free ticket to attend. This program is recommended for kids ages 5-9 and their families. Children under age 5 must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Landscapes of Our World

Join an instructor from the Brookline Arts Center for this landscape workshop geared for children ages 5 to 9 years-old (and their caregivers)! Learn how to draw and color fantastic landscapes and their inhabitants step-by-step, while also developing foundational drawing skills and techniques. This program does not require registration but will have a limited capacity, so please arrive in a timely manner.
