Early Closing March 16

All Public Library of Brookline locations will close at 1 PM on Thursday, March 16, for staff development. All locations will be open from 10 AM - 1 PM on March 16 and will resume normal hours on Friday, March 17.

Women of NASA

Brookline Village Library

FRIDAY, March 17 at 3 PM

Join a NASA Solar System Ambassador at 3 PM in Hunneman Hall as we celebrate Women’s History Month by learning about the women of NASA and their work on American space exploration, from being astronauts to working in math and engineering and so much more. This program includes hands-on activities and is intended for kids in grades 2 and up.

Free tickets are required for this program and will be available at the Children’s Desk starting at 2:30 PM.

Local Poets 4 x 4 Reading

Coolidge Corner Library

TUESDAY, March 21 at 7 PM

Brookline poet laureate Jennifer Barber hosts four local poets – Sassan Tabatabai, Ruth Hoberman, Nancy Kassell, and Ben Berman – each reading four of their original poems. The reading will be followed by a brief Q&A. Learn more about the poets!

This event is in partnership with the Brookline Commission for the Arts.

ideaSPACE: Tiny Food!

WEDNESDAY, March 15 at 3:30 PM - for teens in grades 8-12

FRIDAY, March 17 at 2 PM - for tweens in grades 5-7

Join us to make tiny food using polymer clay! We’ll provide the clay, molds, paints, and materials to make dollhouse-sized food from tiny bowls of fruit to bread to a miniature breakfast. There will be a session for teens in grades 8-12 on March 15 at 3:30 PM and a session for tweens on March 17 at 2 PM. Each session is limited to the first 12 participants.

This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Brookline Public Library.

Russian Storytime

Join us at the Coolidge Corner Library in the downstairs program room for stories and songs in Russian. This storytime is best for children ages 2 to 5 and their families.

Anne Hanson Author Talk

Brookline Village Library

SATURDAY, March 25 at 2 PM

Join us at the Library for a special visit from local author Anne Hanson! She will be discussing her book, Buried Secrets: Looking for Frank and Ida, much of which she wrote in the Brookline Village Library’s Brookline Room. Copies of the book will be on sale starting at 1:30 PM at the entrance of Hunneman Hall, and Anne will be available to sign copies after the event.

Buried Secrets is a true-life mystery inspired by Anne Hanson's genealogical sleuthing. Learn more about the book and author here!

Cloisonné Enamel Jewelry by Toni Strassler - Using the ancient technique of cloisonné, Toni, a long-time Brookline resident, fires vitreous grains of enamel that are enclosed in fine gold or silver metal wires to produce pictorial images of scenes and other designs. On display through April 28.

Brookline Library Music Association Exhibit - The Brookline Library Music Association was founded in 1951 and disbanded within the last year. The library is now the official repository for the Association’s archives. Stop by the display case near new books to see a snippet of the collection. On display through April 30.
Coolidge Corner Library
Infinite Gestures: A Printmaking Exploration of Visual Evolution - Local artist Joshua Brennan explores the idea of expansion and self-reference through printmaking. Brennan’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. On display through April 30.
