Bubble Party!

Come celebrate the end of school with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, fun music, games, and more! Bubbles, chalk, and games will be supplied by the library. This program is for kids of all ages.

The Mighty Honey Bee with Nora Neale - Session 1 and Session 2

Session 1: 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM | Session 2: 4 PM to 5 PM
Beekeeper Nora Neale is coming to answer all of your bee questions! See real live honeybees in an observation hive, explore beekeepers' gear, and make a rolled beeswax candle!
These two identical sessions are for kids entering grades K-7. Get free tickets at the Children's desk 30 minutes before each session.

Massachusetts Horticultural Society Plantmobile

Pollination with Massachusetts Horticultural Society (New Date and Time!)

Join us for a visit from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society Plantmobile! Children in grades pre-K through 5 will learn about the health and life cycle of both plants and pollinators and the hidden relationships in the natural world around them.

Friends of Hall's Pond Annual Meeting

Join the Friends of Hall's Pond for their annual meeting and a discussion of the trees that surround Hall's Pond. Jack Schleifer, Urban Forestry Manager and Tree Warden for the Town of Brookline, will be sharing his expertise about the greenery in the area.

Author Talk by Andrew Leland: The Country of the Blind: A Memoir at the End of Sight

Thursday, June 25, 6 PM to 8 PM
Please join us for a special evening with author and advocate, Andrew Leland, whose book, The Country of the Blind: A Memoir at the End of Sight, was a 2024 Pulitzer finalist. Mr. Leland will share a candid and personal account of the adjustments he made as he lost his vision to retinitis pigmentosa. The program will include a reading by Mr. Leland, a Q&A session, and a book sale and signing. ASL interpretation will be provided on-site during the event.

Dr. Rosie Helps the Animals: Book Reading and Stuffed Animal Vet Clinic

Tuesday, June 30, 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Author Jennifer Welborn will read from Dr. Rosie Helps the Animals, an award-winning STEM picture book based on and informed by real-world veterinarians. After the reading, participants will get to diagnose and treat a stuffed animal!
For kids ages 4-8 and their grownups.

Shadow Puppet Show: The Great Zodiac River Race

Brookline Village
Tuesday, July 7, 2 PM to 3 PM
Join the puppeteers from Shadow Joy Lab for a performance of The Great Zodiac River Race and learn about the twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac! Following the show, participants will have a chance to explore the puppets and ask questions.
All ages are welcome but this performance is recommended for children ages 4-12 and their families. Free tickets will be available at the Children's Desk beginning at 1:30 PM.

Make a Painted Corgi: Child-Adult Craft Session with Pop Up Art School

Thursday, July 9, 6:30 PM to 8 PM
Pairs or groups of kids, tweens, teens, and accompanying grownups will paint and customize their own adorable corgi wearing a red bandanna with a heart in this perfect mix of guided instruction and personal creativity. Registration opens Thursday, June 25.

Free Movie Screening at the Coolidge Corner Theater

To close out our Pride festivities, The Public Library of Brookline is offering a free screening of Moonlight (2016) in partnership with the Coolidge Corner Theatre. Space is limited. Please register to reserve your free ticket.
