Throughout the pandemic, we are offering a variety of virtual storytime programs to help your child(ren) foster a love of reading and bolster their early literacy skills. All of our virtual storytimes are geared for children ages 0-5. Join us for any (or all!) of our virtual storytime programs.
Storytime on Zoom
This storytime runs on Tuesdays at 3:30 PM and Saturdays at 10:30 AM on Zoom. Prepare to be engaged, as this storytime encourages you to sing, laugh, and move with us! This storytime will never be recorded or saved afterward, both for your privacy and publishers’ permissions. Registration is required. Read more about and register for the Tuesday Zoom Storytime here. To read more about and register for the Saturday Zoom Storytime, click here.
Storytime At Home
This storytime consists of on-demand videos released weekly across a six week session. Geared toward families who want to attend storytime on their own time, Storytime At Home provides you with the tools and tips you need to make your virtual storytime experience even more interactive. Storytime Kits, which include storytime staples such as scarves and noisemakers, will be made available at the beginning of each new session while supplies last. Storytime Kits will remain the same throughout all sessions, so once you have one you’re good to go! You do not need a storytime kit to participate, but you do need to register to gain access to the videos. You can read more about this program and find out how to register on our events calendar.
World Language Storytimes
The Library is pleased to partner with dedicated community members to offer storytimes in multiple languages. All of our world language storytimes are conducted fully in their designated language and are run on Zoom. Our Taiwanese Storytime occurs monthly on the first Friday, at 3:30 PM, whereas our Japanese Storytime occurs monthly on the fourth Monday, at 10:30 AM. We are also pleased to bring our talented, Mandarin-speaking librarians on board for a new, monthly Mandarin Storytime on the second Thursday of the month, at 3:30 PM. You can read more about these programs and how to register on our events calendar.
Children’s Book Surprises
The Library has two, ongoing book bundle services! You can pick up a surprise bundle of 10 easy readers or 10 picture books from any of our locations. No reservations necessary! Simply visit the Library during open hours, and ask at the door for an Easy Reader or Picture Book Surprise bundle. This service is perfect for families who are looking for a fresh stack of books to read with their 0-7 year olds. Read our Frequently Asked Questions about this service here.
Early Literacy Calendars
Every month, we put together a calendar full of ideas and activities to help practice early literacy skills with your little ones. Each week is focused on a different theme and includes suggestions of how to Sing, Talk, Read, Write, and Play together to get your child(ren) ready to read! There is also a weekly book recommendation, which is always available physically and digitally through the Library. Download our upcoming calendars here.
Library To Go Kits
Every month, new Library To Go Kits are made available for kids, tweens, teens, and adults. Craft, build, cook, and de-stress with the help of these unique kits! Find out more about To Go Kits and how to reserve them here.
