About
The Board of Trustees consists of 12 local residents who are elected to three-year terms of office. Each year, four Trustees are elected to the Board. Working closely with the Director of the Library, the Trustees provide oversight of the library budget, its services, and its policies.
Meetings take place every second Tuesday of the month at 6:15 p.m. They are held in the Trustees’ Room of the library at 361 Washington Street unless otherwise noted.

Call for Applications for New Board of Trustee Member
The Brookline Board of Library Trustees and the Select Board are seeking candidates to fill a vacancy on the Board of Library Trustees .
Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 41 section 11, the Library Trustees and the Select Board work jointly to find a person to fill the vacancy until the Annual Town Election in May 2027.
Those interested should submit a cover letter and resumé by Friday, October 2 to the Board of Library Trustees at LibraryTrustees@BrooklineMA.gov, with subject line “Trustee Candidate.” Candidates must be registered voters of the Town of Brookline. Only complete applications will be considered.
The Library Trustees will interview the candidates during the weeks of October 5th and 12th. All interviews will be held remotely. The Select Board and Library Trustees will conduct final interviews at a Joint Meeting on October 20 and will fill the vacancy at that time. The Joint Meeting will be held in person and will be posted on the Town Calendar.
Library Strategic & Action Plans
The Public Library of Brookline’s Strategic Plan for FY23-27, as well as the FY25 Action Plan, was approved by the Trustees. The Action Plan outlines the Library’s major projects, goals, and activities for the upcoming year.
