How much do you know about Florida Ruffin Ridley, the Brookline resident for whom the former Coolidge Corner School is named? Dolita Cathcart, Associate Professor of History at Wheaton College, will discuss the life and legacy of this groundbreaking figure, along with her influential mother, Josephine St. Pierre Ruffin.

An Evening with Desmond Hall and Christina Hammonds Reed

Join us for an evening with two outstanding YA authors, Desmond Hall and Christina Hammonds Reed, to discuss their writing process, Black history, working on historical fiction, and the world of YA. We are delighted to partner with 826 Boston for this event, and the conversation will be led by 826 Boston student leaders.

Women in World Jazz Virtual Concert

SATURDAY, March 6 at 2 PM

Join us as we celebrate Women’s History Month with a virtual concert! Women in World Jazz presents an educational performance for the whole family featuring an international ensemble of all-female performers showcasing music from around the world.

Women in World Jazz features world music composed by women artists past and present. From USA Blues and Jazz styles, the group ventures to Jamaica, Brazil, Japan, Cape Verde, and Israel to celebrate the diversity and power of creativity. Audience members will have a chance to ask questions and are invited to create their own music by bringing a shaker instrument (you can make a shaker using a vitamin container or soda bottle). This interactive tribute to women composers from around the globe will delight adults and kids of all ages.

Storytime At Home

Join your Brookline children's librarians for a NEW virtual storytime available anytime! Register for the program on Eventbrite anytime during the session, which starts February 18, 2021 at 7 PM and runs through April 3, 2021. Throughout the course of this session, you'll get a weekly email with a link to a pre-recorded storytime prepared by your favorite Brookline librarians. You'll also have an opportunity to reserve a personal Storytime at Home Kit filled with storytime essentials, so register early! Find out more information on our website.
