Storytime At Home

Join your Brookline Children’s Librarians for a fun virtual storytime available anytime! We asked you what the best time for storytime would be and we heard your answer- whenever you can fit it into your busy schedule! This is why we’ve created a weekly storytime that you can access at your leisure for you and your kids to enjoy together.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Register for the program on Eventbrite anytime during Session 5, which starts on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 7PM and runs through Decmber 17, 2021.
  2. Throughout the course of this session, you’ll get a weekly email with a link to a pre-recorded storytime prepared by your favorite Brookline Librarians.
  3. Watch the storytime with your kids at any time, but be ready to be engaged! We’ll use additional props like scarves and shakers, just as we might if we were in the library. Don’t worry- we’ll let you know what you need in each weekly email.
  4. Enjoy watching any of the storytime videos from past weeks as many times as you’d like!

There will also be an opportunity to receive a storytime kit! Storytime kits will include props like scarves and shakers, as well as a branded tote bag to store materials in. Simply visit any Library location and ask at the Children’s Desk for a Storytime Kit. Kits are the same for each session, so if you’ve already received a kit during a previous session, you’re all set.

Didn’t get a storytime kit? Have no fear! You can use everyday items from around your home for storytime. Try using a small dish towel in place of a scarf, or filling a sippy cup with cereal in place of a shaker. You could even make your own simple puppet by using an old sock! Please know that you will have another opportunity to reserve the same storytime kit during our next session.
