Library Closed for Thanksgiving

All Public Library of Brookline locations will close at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 22 and remain closed Thursday, November 23 for Thanksgiving. Regular hours will resume Friday, November 24.

Games for Everyone!

Brookline Village Library

SATURDAY, November 25 at 2 PM

Want to have a bit of fun after the madness of Black Friday? Join us in the Brookline Village Library Tween Room for an International Games Month celebration! We will be playing board and card games and giving away free game kits while supplies last. This event is for adults and kids all ages.

Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Concert

TUESDAY, November 28 at 7 PM

Join our friends from Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band for an evening of klezmer music and Yiddish song! Dancing and singing along are both welcome. This concert is for adults and kids of all ages.

This event is generously sponsored by the Library Trustees.

First Light Celebration: Rolled Beeswax Candles at Coolidge Corner
Thursday, November 30 from 5-7 PM - The Library is delighted to participate in this year’s First Light Celebration. While enjoying the festivities, stop by the Coolidge Corner Library to make and decorate a rolled beeswax candle!

Concert: Songs in Cello & Piano Music at Brookline Village
Saturday, December 2 at 3:15 PM - The Library is pleased to present a concert of classical cello and piano music, featuring music written by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, de Falla, and Rachmaninoff.

Dutch Bloom - Rux Darie's abstract paintings are inspired in part by fields of flowers in the Netherlands. Join the artist for a reception on Sunday, November 26 at 2 PM. On display through January 7.

Town Meeting Resources in Special Collections - Special Collections has put together information about the Library's resources related to Town Meeting. On display through December 31.

Photo Albums: Undoing Damage Done - Special Collections shares items that demonstrate issues that come up when preserving archival materials. On display through November 30.

Kimchi Day - Kimchi Day is November 22. Cori Ahn, a local author from Brookline and the writer of “My Name is Kimchi (내 이름은 김치),” has organized an art and story exhibit to mark this occasion. On display through November 30.

Discussing Cozy Fantasy “Bookshops and Bonedust”

THURSDAY, November 30 at 7 PM

Who doesn’t love a good slice-of-life cozy fantasy with a dollop of romantic froth – with ORCS!?! Join us for a fun conversation with Travis Baldree to celebrate the book birthday of “Bookshops and Bonedust”, the eagerly anticipated follow-up to “Legends & Lattes”. Bring your questions, this will be a fascinating Q&A!

Optics Workshop

Join local high school student Sarya Refai for an Optics Workshop! This workshop will introduce optical concepts along with hands-on activities – including how to make stained glass with the manipulation of light! Limited to the first 12 participants. No registration required. This program is best suited for students in grades 5-8.

Pups @ Putterham: Read to a Dog!

WEDNESDAY, November 29 at 7:30 PM

Reading is more fun when you’re reading to a dog! Our specially trained therapy dogs are accompanied by their human handlers, and will sit quietly while you read aloud to them. Bring a favorite book and relax while you read to a friendly, furry, four-legged friend! For kids grades K-4.
