Library Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr., Day

All Public Library of Brookline locations will be closed Monday, January 15 for Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, January 16.

The Town of Brookline will hold its annual celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day on Monday, January 15 at 3 PM at the Coolidge Corner Theatre. The event is free and open to all, but registration is required. Throughout January, the Brookline Village and Coolidge Corner Libraries will feature displays on Martin Luther King, Jr., presented by Brookline’s MLK Celebration Committee.

Whether you’re worried about your address, passwords, cell phone, Wi-Fi network, or credit cards, this workshop gives you both preventive and reactive steps you can take to protect your digital identity and maintain your peace of mind.

Drumming Workshop for Kids and Tweens

SATURDAY, January 13 at 1 PM

Drum in the new year! Join Logan Amaral for an immersive drum workshop, focusing on elements of traditional rhythms from Ghana, West Africa. Participants will explore a variety of topics, such as polyrhythm and call & response, all played on authentic, hand-crafted instruments from Ghana. For kids and tweens in grades K-7.

American Sign Language Class

Learn the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) with this course taught by DEAF, Inc.! The class will meet for 10 sessions on Thursdays, February 8 – April 11, 6:30-8:30 PM at the Brookline Village Library. This class is open to all adults, no prior knowledge of ASL required. Registration is required and will open on Thursday, January 11 at 6:30 PM.
