2026 Stuffed Animal Sleepover: A Visit to Drumlin Farm!

August 18, 2026

The stuffies of Brookline saw you all having such a good time with the Plant a Seed, Read! Summer Reading theme this year that we wanted in! After you dropped us off, we spent a cozy night in in the Library, getting lots of rest to prepare for our big adventure at Drumlin Farm. The wonderful farm staff took us and the librarians on a fun tour all around the farm, where we got to meet farm animals and see how our food is grown! We were worried that it might rain (although the plants would love that!), but the weather was perfect for our adventure. While we were all introducing ourselves to each other, we learned that two of us even had the same name! So that no one would get confused during our trip, those two decided to go by Red Beary and Brown Beary, so we’d always know who was who.

We all started out at the big red barn, where Heart, Garfield, Totoro, Monchichi, Gumdrop, Lion, Kaeru-chan, Ten, Judy, Lacca, Escargot, Special Labubu, and Ice Cream Labubu were so excited to see the farm, they had to take a photo to start their day! Rick, Green Lizard, Ama Llama, and Naojiro loved seeing the tractor, and they even got to test what it feels like to drive it. Godzilla, Pokey, and Red Beary hitched a ride there in the hay tractor, and Mojang Gote and Goaty played in (and maybe snacked on) the hay inside the barn.

We met our first friends, Minnie the brown cow and Gloria the black and white cow. Skyla the Blueberry Cow loved meeting another spotted cow, while Hedgie, Chattie, and Coco & Tot bonded with Minnie over their beautiful coloring. Next, Captain Cacao drove us all down to the flower fields to see the blooms.

We stopped at the zinnias, which were so bright and beautiful they almost hurt our eyes! Escargot and Heart liked the orange ones and Pink Bunny and No Name liked the pinks, and Axolotl loved them so much they tried to hide so they could stay there forever!

All of this adventuring made us hungry! Before our next stop, we paused in the veggie fields for a snack. Gumdrop, Pink Bunny, Purple Bunny, and Stinky Bunny had a delicious lettuce salad, and Skyla the Blueberry Cow found some blueberries to munch on. Chester, Roo Sano, and Sabo waited very patiently for their tomatoes to ripen, but Lacca found a perfect one just ready to eat! Red Beary, Brown Beary, Captain Cacao, Dov Navon, and Wolverine decided to see if the bees would share their honey. They didn’t succeed in getting any, but luckily no one got stung!

Next up were the goats and sheep, who were so much fun to play with! Mojang Gote, Hooty Boo, and Goaty were very excited to meet the goats, and Lego got to play with the babies (called kids!) out on the rocks. Kibo, Judy, Evie, and Aquilotto visited the sheep, but they were all very careful not to disturb the ones who were napping!

After all of our playing with our new friends, we needed a break to cool down from the hot summer weather! The pond was the perfect place to dip our toes and enjoy the breeze. Kaeru-chan and Ten met all of the local pond frogs, while Beluga and Killer Whale dove in and went for a swim. Turtle even got to meet a new turtle friend!

After the pond, we stopped by the greenhouses to see how the baby plants are grown. Owlette spotted an apple tree right outside, and flew up to get a bird’s eye view (and maybe a snack too). Beluga and Killer Whale had so much fun swimming at the pond, they decided to see if they could swim in the sea of baby pea plants! Charlie helped them out by adding some water from the watering can.

Owlette was disappointed that there weren’t any other birds in the apple tree, so we decided to stop by Bird Hill to visit the raptors and Owlette, Charlie, and Aquilotto visited with the barred owls. Lione also learned about what butterflies we can see here in Massachusetts, and Naojiro tried to see if they could spot any with the farm’s binoculars! Hedgie even got to meet Boots, the farm’s resident fox!

Of course we had to visit the farm store before we left! Hooty Boo, Stinky Bunny, Chattie, No Name, Garfield, and Coco & Tot met some new stuffie friends, and Rick modeled some of the store’s hats and clothes.

Before we left to come back to the Library, Godzilla, Pokey, Brown Beary, Wolverine, Axolotl, Purple Bunny, Evie, Green Lizard, Roo Sano, Sabo, Turtle, Chester, and Kibo took a few minutes to share their favorite things they did on the farm all day. Ama Llama and Dov Navon grabbed a quick farm snack before getting back in the car, and then it was time to come back to Brookline!

We gave the farm staff a big thank you and headed towards home. We had a great time at our sleepover, but we were all very excited to see you at the Library for pick up. We can’t wait to do it again next year somewhere new!
