Concert & Songwriting Workshop with Naomi Westwater
Join folk rock musician Naomi Westwater and their band for an evening of live music inspired by nature. Following the concert, Naomi will lead a lyric writing and poetry workshop. The workshop will include a writing prompt, free write, and writing form – with time for (optional) sharing at the end. Whether you’ve always wanted to try writing songs or have been writing for some time, you’re welcome at the workshop!
This concert is for adults and kids of all ages. The workshop is for adults and teens ages 14+. No registration required. We’ll have pens and paper on hand for the workshop, but you’re welcome to bring a journal.
Naomi Westwater (they/she) is a queer, Black-multiracial poet, singer-songwriter, and producer from Massachusetts. Their work combines music with creative writing, visual art, and spirituality. Like a rose with many petals, Naomi’s music is layered, striking, and tender, and she weaves in and out of folk music, flirting with rock and jazz.
Naomi’s 2021 EP Feelings was featured in Under The Radar, WBUR, Vanyaland, WGBH, Allston Pudding, and The Bluegrass Situation, and her cover of “Strange Fruit” raised over $1,000 for the Equal Justice Initiative. She has performed at BAMS Fest (MA), The Boston Public Library (MA), CD Baby’s EU DIY Musician Conference (Spain), The Cambridge Public Library (MA), Camp.Fire Festival at Club Passim (MA), The ICA (MA), The Museum of Fine Arts (MA), Crooked Coast’s Coast Fest (MA), Radio Bean (VT), Bust Out Boston at Brighton Music Hall (MA), ONCE Somerville (MA), An Informal Night of Comedy with Eugene Mirman (MA), The Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival (MA), and more.
Naomi holds a Master of Music in Contemporary Performance and Production from Berklee College of Music. She was nominated for a 2022 and a 2021 Boston Music Award for best singer-songwriter, she is a recipient of a 2023 MCC grant, a 2020 617Sessions Artist, a 2020 Boston Opportunity Fund recipient, a 2019 Club Passim Iguana Music Fund grant recipient, and a 2019 Berklee College of Music Post Master’s Graduate Fellow. Naomi is also a member of the Club Passim Folk Collective.
In addition to making music, Naomi is on faculty at Club Passim and Not Sorry Productions teaching songwriting, English, and spirituality, and they lead the Boston chapter of Beats by Girlz, a nonprofit working on gender equity in the music industry.

Hunneman Hall is located on the second floor of the Brookline Village Library. To access, use one of the main entrances, which are equipped with ramps and door openers, followed by the elevator in the atrium. This venue is equipped with assistive listening transmitters and devices, available upon request.
