Drawing and Lettering Workshop with Nell Valle

A cartoonishly hand-lettered "Hello" in pink, yellow, and purple, surrounded by painted flowers

Explore your own style with guided exercises in drawing and lettering. At the end of this workshop, you will get to bring home either a comic or greeting card you made! The combination of drawing and lettering is exciting, allowing new ways of problem solving and pushing one’s creativity. Valle will lead exercises before participants create their final art. This workshop is great for participants ages 8-12 who like both guided examples and open-ended art-making. Space is limited, so tickets can be picked up on a first come, first served basis at the children’s desk starting at 4 PM on the day of the program.

Nell is a Chinese-American illustrator based in Boston. She specializes in the big and small: public art and comics. She is known for her cute characters, bright colors, and bold, fun lines. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in illustration and a minor in creative writing. She also has experience in art gallery installation and art instruction.

This event is generously sponsored by the Brookline Library Foundation.
