Songs of Rabindranath Tagore with Classical Sarod

Join us in this hour-long concert celebrating the works of Rabindranath Tagore. The first non-European Nobel Laureate in Literature, Tagore and his poetic, philosophical lyrics still speak to everyone in the modern day.

Vocalist Maitreyee Chakraborty will sing Tagore’s compositions ornamented by the melodic movements of acclaimed sarodist Pt. Anirban Dasgupta. The sarod is a fretless stringed instrument from India known for its sliding melodies and rich, resonant tone. The duo will be accompanied by Hirak Modi on harmonium and Koushik Chakraborty on tabla.

Translations of the lyrics will be displayed on screen.
